Term 2 has marked another exciting term for sports at Mareeba State School. Our school has hosted Sporting Schools funded Soccer and AFL sessions before and after school and we've had students selected for various Tablelands District Sporting teams with special mention to Leksi Mukadi and Colin Walsh who have been selected to represent our Peninsula School Sport Region at state titles, and Gussy Plowman Ah Chee and Jonty Taylor who were selected to represent Peninsula at the upcoming soccer state titles.
Finally, it was fantastic to see so many students proudly wearing their house colours and cheering on their team and fellow peers at our Athletics Carnival. It was also great to see parents and families supporting students in hefty numbers. There were many standout performances, however the age champions this year were:
9 years: Mia McGowan & Rhys Malfitana
10 years: Hailey Jaszczyszyn & Michael Collins-Dodd
11 years: Leksi Mukadi & Domenic Carusi
12 years: Callara-Lee Quarry & Colin Walsh
Granite was the overall winning house from the carnival on 698 participation points and 900 overall points, with Mitchell finishing 2nd on 620 participation and 791 overall points and Barron on 3rd with 596 participation and 728 overall points. The HPE team are looking forward to cheering on our students at the Tablelands District Track and Field Carnival next term.
Yours in Sport,
