I Respect Me & You: Respect people, property, places
Our expectation at present is all about respect. Not only are we learning about respecting ourselves and others, but extending to include home, in the community, at sports and when visiting other towns, cities or countries. We have had lots of discussion about the different ways the respect looks like, feels like and sounds like.
Zones of Regulations and Pause
It's a very exciting start to Term 2 for Social and Emotional Learning with the Preps and Year 1s beginning to explore The Zones of Regulations (ZoR) for the first time. Classes are starting to mesh Pause “Parts of the Brian" and ZoR. Over the next few weeks students will begin to unpack ZoR in further details and start to be able to recognise not only theirs but others' emotions. Year 2-6 will continue on with their journey and revisit lessons that are appropriate for their class context, school climate or personal needs.
PayWay
This term will be even more exciting than last – with a mega End of Semester draw. Last term we saw a number of students win a scooter, speakers and sports balls. Watch this space for what the prizes might be.
The R & C shop should be stocked by week 3 if all of our orders arrive with a catalogue to follow, so our learners can start spending.
Basketball
Basketball has become a very popular game at MSS for grades 4-6. To help our students with this new found passion, we have moved handball to under Z-Block and are trialling 2 x half court 3 on 3 or 4 on 4 games. It is definitely a very interesting (and sometimes challenging) journey teaching our eager hoop shooters to dribble, shoot, and the rules in the middle of game play. All in all, we are having a lot of fun with this and learning to respect each other at the same time.
