The final two weeks of this term have been jam-packed with activities for both staff and students. From the anti-bullying awareness-raising activities held in week 8, to cross country in week 9 and finishing with our week 10 school photos, Year 5 excursion, completion of Term 1 assessment and parent-teacher-student interviews, the days have been flying by!
It has been wonderful to witness the ongoing parent and family commitment to the school evidenced by so many of you being actively involved in school events. Our school cross country was an amazing display of our school spirit and I personally want to thank each of our wonderful families who came to support our students at this incredibly successful event. Thank you to also to those families who attended interviews and the P&C AGM. Special thanks to those who accepted positions on the P&C Executive. We know that the more closely our school can work together with our parent group and the community, the better the outcomes will be for all our children.
Our 2021 P&C Executive works closely with MSS to fundraise for our school, providing financial support to improve our school facilities and replace necessary resources including our sound-fields to assist our hard of hearing students in every classroom, classroom fridges as well as bus costs for student excursions.

Well done to our students who participated in our recent cross country. Special mention to Mr Daniel Samanes and Mr Remy Fry for their commitment to our school sport opportunities and their high level organisation, resulting in a superb 2021 cross country. Congratulations to Mitchell on their successful win and to every age champion winner!
Another well done to our Year 5 staff and students who headed up to the Herberton Historical Village on Tuesday for their annual excursion. Staff and students enjoyed the day and like every year, come back with a wealth of knowledge about the ways people, places and things change over time. Check out this week's SIZZLING SPOTLIGHT on our MSS website underneath the Principal's Blog on excursions, which will be published on Thursday this week.
Finally, I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy break. This time last year we were faced with an uncertain period of time with the COIVD pandemic and for many families, their autumn holidays were very different. This year, whilst we see small cluster outbreaks of COVID, with our Queensland wide systems in place we are hopeful for a quick resolution.
Finally, for those celebrating Easter traditions, have a special weekend.
Once again thank you to our Mareeba SS community for a great term. Enjoy your break. Term 2 will no doubt be as busy as term 1!
We look forward to seeing you back when school recommences on Monday 19 April.
