Mareeba State School maintains a clear focus on the Literacy and Numeracy capabilities of students through a commitment to explicit teaching and rigorous monitoring of student achievement. Our school offers well developed systems to support and extend student achievement both in and outside of the classroom.
Whilst students are taught to respect diversity through the school-wide positive behaviour system, they are also challenged to think critically and creatively. The school offers an extensive list of lunchtime activities including Art and chess Clubs, Opti-Minds and organised sport. In addition, students have access to significant after-school sporting opportunities and before-school homework and reading Learning Cafes. A music program and an excellent Instrumental Music Program also provide opportunities for students to showcase their talents.
Many students also opt to develop their leadership skills by participating in the school’s Student Leadership program.
Every classroom is equipped with an interactive whiteboard to guarantee access to the latest and best curriculum materials. iPads and access to technology across the school also ensure that students are well prepared for the future.
