NEW TOILET BLOCK OPEN! So, we are continuing with I Respect Me & You: Respect people, property, places for week 10.
With the new toilet block open and the changes in which blocks students are to be using, MSS will be using a toilet log (sign in sign out – name, date, time) in each classroom. This also means that students in years 2-6 will not be using the Z block toilets at break time. With swimming starting next term and we are looking at respecting the pool, the facilities the gardens and the pool staff as well as any members of the public that may be also using the pool. This will extend to moving though the school to catch the bus, while other classes are still working and go even further to travelling on the bus.
School Based Police Officer Snr Constable Matt Mitchell spoke with grade 5 and 6 students on Friday afternoon about verbal abuse, inappropriate comments and threats being made by some of our students at MSS. We acknowledge that most of our students do not engage in this type of behaviour and some that do, don't fully understand the ramifications of what they are saying. Please discuss with your child that this type of behaviour is not acceptable at MSS and there will be consequences for students that engage in it. All students are welcomed and valued at MSS.
Reporting Issues
If a student is having problems the MSS process to follow is:
- Playground issues need to be immediately reported to the staff member on duty in that area
- In class issues need to be reported to the classroom teacher who is teaching the class at that time
- If your student reports issues to you at home, the first point of call is the classroom teacher
- All academic and/or learning concerns are directed to the classroom teacher
Please discuss what this looks like at school – it may be different from school to home, but this is the MSS way and the discourse that MSS expects while at school and representing MSS.
Banking - R & C Shop
Thanks to our Principal Mrs Simpson for running our pop up shop this week. It is truly wonderful to see so many students looking, buying and getting a great deal from Mrs Simpson!
