Last year, I worked together with a wonderful group of parents, who had volunteered to be part of the Mareeba State School's P&C Committee. We worked in a productive partnership with Mrs Simpson and the community to promote the interests of the school and facilitate its development and further improvement, to achieve the best outcomes for students. We are involved in a variety of school activities from policy to financial planning, Tuckshop, Uniform Shop, fundraising and school functions.
2020 was a quiet year compared to previous years. Nevertheless, we have had some accomplishments that can be commended. The P&C assist the school with excursion bus fees, catering fees and classroom fridges, just to name a few. We tried a new fundraising venture this year, 'Cookie Dough' which has proven to be a big hit and we thank all who supported us.
There are a few projects that are in the pipeline for this year and we hope to see them through. 'Positive Behaviour for Learning' signage, tuckshop, upgrading the school amenities and the bi-annual fete are some of the topics we will be focusing on in 2021.
We would love to see some new faces at our meetings held on the third Tuesday of every month (this may be subject to change). So, come along if you can... we promise we won't bite! We are just a bunch of parents who want to see our children's school move forward in a positive way.
Our next meeing is the AGM. It will be held in the MSS Staffroom on 16th March at 5.00pm. We look forward to seeing you there.
