School Swimming Wrap-Up

As the swimming season for 2023 has come to a finish, I can say that there was a lot of fun had by the students who participated in the lessons as well as all the teachers and instructors.  As valuable as these lessons are which are done through the school, I must remind students and parents how important it is that the students are getting time in the water outside of our once-a-year swim program.  It really does make a difference with retaining everything learnt in the lessons and it helps them develop further skills and confidence in their ability.

With that said, now we can get ready for the upcoming Swimming Fun Day which will be held on Friday 1st December (Week 9).  Students in Years 4, 5 and 6 who have attended a minimum of three school swimming lessons will be invited and given a form detailing what they are required to bring for the day, what processes will be going on as well as what to wear to school prior to going to the pool.

Certificates will be given out to students towards the end of the term, outlining whether they completed the level they were on this year or did not complete it.  I would like to say a huge thank you to all of the teachers and instructors involved at the pool or who were back at school looking after the non-attenders.  It all would have not gone so smoothly if it wasn't for everyone's efforts.

Finally, thank you to the Mareeba Aquatic Centre for allowing us to use their pool facilities and clubhouse every year and being so accommodating and professional.  I hope to see all the students who are eligible to attend at the Swimming Fun Day in Week 9 for a fun and exciting finish to the swimming season.

Thank you,

Remy Fry
