PBL Update
New year, new things! I'm sure that you have already heard about our new PBL token system. Students can accumulate tokens and buy from the 'shop'. Thanks to our students who gave us name suggestions. Our system is called Respect & Collect, with our tokens known as the 'Mareeba Pay Way'. We have already had over 1000 'pay ways' earned by students who have displayed excellent behaviour, effort towards their learning and respect for others. The express deposit box has been very full each day with students being wise and banking daily. Students should be able to purchase from the 'shop' from as early as week 4.
Another new addition this year is the modification of our school expectations. You will see these posters displayed in each classroom and learning area. This year you will see the signage appear through the school to remind us all of what Mareeba State School expectations are. Over the next few weeks students will learn the 3 expectations, along with the 9 sub expectations. At MSS we expect that all students will be able to recall the 3 expectations by the end of week 3, term 1.
Pause
Pause lessons will commence in week 2, starting with Brain Basics, learning the parts of the brain, how they work and the effects this has on us. If a 'mind jar' was brought home at the end of last year we would very much appreciate you sending it back to school so that we can re-use it.
Other Information
If you have any of last year's uniforms, shoes and bucket hats clogging up space, please send them in. They will be very much cherished and loved.
This year, the BM room can be found in the Hub (U Block). You can still contact us by phoning the main office on 4092 8100.
