Wow, we are nearly at the end of Term 1 and it has flown by.  Our attendance this term has been improving and we are having lots of 100% days in the classrooms around the school.

Below is a comparison table from this time last year.  COVID had started, so this is an indication of what our attendance was at that time compared to now.

 Total attendance <85%85-90%90-95%95-100%
202081.5%46%16.6%15.4%21.8%
202186%34.3%10.3%16.3%39.1%

While our target is 10% of students attending <85% of the time, we still have a long way to go.  Our FLO (Tracy) and ARTIE Ambassador (Fallon) have been working very hard with some of our agencies, including Wannabe, to get our students to school every day.  Our teachers work hard to prepare lessons that are relevant, interesting and differentiated to suit individual student learning needs.  The HUB team do a great job of providing emergency lunches, and supplying stationery and extra uniforms for anyone who needs them.  Overall, the staff at MSS work hard to make sure that 'school life' is positive and that students want to come every day.

Coming up in week 1 term 2, we will be celebrating our students attending 95% and above.  This celebration will happen on Wednesday 21st April (more information to come).

Also in week 1 on Friday 23rd April, our ARTIE Term 2 Launch will take place.  This program enforces attendance through ARTIE (Achieving Results Through Indigenous Education).

Attendance is everyone's business.  Please contact the school if you need support with getting your child to school.

Enjoy a restful break and see you in Term 2.
