We hear the phrase "Every Day Counts" getting used here at Mareeba State School all the time, but what do we really mean when we say it? Have you ever completed a beautiful big puzzle? Every single piece of that puzzle is important and must work together to create the final vision. If one piece is missing, no matter how small, the overall picture just doesn't have the same effect. School life is exactly the same, we must piece together every piece of schooling in order for our students to learn and grow with success, just like the puzzle.
Attendance plays a huge part in the overall picture. In order for our students to learn and grow, they must be at school to develop those strong healthy relationships with friends, teachers and staff. As a role model to our children, we need to teach them that attendance matters and being at school every day ready to learn is part of a bigger puzzle.
Our school target is to get our percentage of students attending less than 85% down by 20% and we all have an important role to play to achieve this.
This target is achievable and if we work together and do our part in getting students to and from school and ready to learn.
We have already achieved some great success with attendance in Term 3. From many classes hitting our school target of 95% to a few classes reaching 100% a few days in a row! Every Day Counts.
Our new 'FULL HOUSE' door hangers are in every classroom and when classes have 100% attendance on any given day, the sign goes on the door for everyone to see and congratulate the teacher and class. Another great attendance initiative from our FLO, Miss Tracy!
If your child is sick please contact the school. We want to make sure that all of our students are safe and accounted for every day.
