NDIS External Service providers
At Mareeba State School we are committed to providing high quality education for our students with disabilities. We believe when parents, teachers and other stakeholders including NDIS External Service providers work together that better outcomes can be achieved for our students.
In order to meet the Department's legislative and policy requirements there are processes in place before granting school access to an externally funded provider to deliver its services to students during school hours and on school premises. It is at the principal's discretion as there are a range of important factors to take into consideration. These include:
- safety and wellbeing and privacy of all students
- the impact of the service on the student's participation in teaching and learning activities,
- the impact of the service on other students and/or the operations of the school.
If you would like an NDIS provider to deliver supports at school, during school time please contact the school and make a meeting time with Pina Carroll, our Head of Special Education.
The process for an external funded provider to deliver its services to students during school hours and on school premises are:
· Parent/Carer makes a request by completing an NDIS access request form.
· Principal/HOSES considers the request and makes a decision taking into account any issues and then informs parent/carers of the decision.
· Parent/Carer advises the NDIS provider of the decision and further information is required.
· Principal/HOSES meets with the NDIS provider and obtains certified copies of their; Working with Children (Blue Card), Photo identification (drivers licence), certificates of currency for insurance policies and details of the type of NDIS supports to be provided at school.
· The Principal, parent/carer and NDIS provider sign an Access Agreement.
