Attendance News!

At Mareeba State School we know that our attendance target has always been 95% and that we talk about how every day counts. However, we want to ensure our families are aware of what supports are in place for your children to reach this target.

It starts in the classroom with each class having their own rewards and target systems for attendance.

Our next step is for our HUB Team (including the FLO) assist the classroom teacher with a range of strategies and plans, including different options like pause breaks and classroom support until we find what works for your child.

Unfortunately, we cannot assist with transport however if you can make it to our school gates our FLO will come to you and assist with the next step. At MSS we work closely with external agencies like the Mulungu WannaBe Program and MCC, as they are able to provide support from home for families.

Did you know that if your child is absent for 10 school days or more you will be asked to fill out a request for exemption that needs to be approved by our Principal?   If you are planning a trip away or may have a planned medical procedure please contact the front office and advise our staff so we can assist with the exemption forms required.

We understand that everyone has days when they may be sick and we apricate your commitment to stopping the spread of illnesses within our school.  It is vital that when your children are sick that you please contact the front office either via phone, e-mail or SMS if we know that your child is unwell we can mark their role accordingly.

Thank you for your commitment to attendance and learning.  We appreciate your support and working with you and your child.
