Prep Enrolments

If you have a child who was born between 1 July 2016 & 30 June 2017, they can be enrolled in Prep for 2022!  For more information, see the Prep Ready Calendar.  Come in and see our friendly office staff to grab an enrolment pack.  We look forward to welcoming you to MSS.

How to enrol in Prep at Mareeba State School:

1. Complete enrolment paperwork

Prep enrolment packs are available from the school office.  Pop in between 8.00am - 3.30pm on school days.  Enrolment packs will also be provided to local kindergarten centres.

Enrolment packs contain:

  • Enrolment forms.  These must be completed and returned to the office at your earliest convenience, along with your child's birth certificate.
  • Prep Information about our Prep Transition Program, including the Information Session, Open Day, Transition Day and Prep 4 Prep program.
  • General information, including our Prospectus, Homework Policy and attendance brochure.

If you have any questions or need assistance completing the forms, please contact us.  We are happy to help!

2. Book your interview

All 2022 Prep students, along with their parents/carers, will be invited to attend a Prep interview, which will commence in late August and run through to October, at the beginning of Term 4.  These interviews will be arranged by our office staff, either in person when you return your completed enrolment forms, or via a telephone call.

The interview takes 15 minutes and is for the parent/s and student to attend.  It is a fantastic opportunity to ask any questions you have about Prep and Mareeba State School, and for our staff to get to know your child and their specific needs.  You will receive a confirmation text message on the day prior to your interview booking.

3. Attend Prep Transition Program Events

The aim of our Prep Transition Program is to give you some insight into Prep at Mareeba State School.  The program provides parents and carers with the opportunity to learn about many innovative and explicit programs that are aimed not only at engaging our students, but also at improving their educational outcomes.  The Transition Program consists of the Prep 4 Prep program and Step Up Day.

Prep 4 Prep is a weekly information session for parents and carers of 2022 Prep students, run over several weeks, starting on Thursday 14th October with our Teddy Bear's Picnic.  Each week there is a different focus, and while parents are attending their session, the 2022 Prep students get to spend time in the classroom and become more familiar with their new school environment.  Click here to view the 2022 Prep 4 Prep timetable.

Step Up Day (formerly known as Transition Day) will be held on Wednesday 1st December, from 12.15 to 1.15pm.  Attending Step Up Day will help to introduce your child to our school.  Parents & students will be involved in a variety of activities and given the opportunity to meet a range of our friendly staff.  Further information about Step Up Day will be available closer to the date.
