What a tremendous sight to be seen last Friday morning with our annual book week parade (click here to see my sizzling spotlight for more information if you missed it in week 6).  The costumes created by both students and staff were amazing with the entire school community congratulating our school on a wonderful event.  I was equally as proud of our year 6 students and staff who journeyed to the Tinaroo Environmental Education Centre (TEEC) for their annual year 6 camp.  During these 4 days students demonstrated the 5 keys to success, Confidence, Persistence, Organisation, Getting Along and Emotional Resilience to overcome fears and challenging activities.  Feedback from the TEEC staff was very positive with our students praised on their remarkable behaviour and 'have a go' attitude.  A big thank you to the wonderful staff and parents who attended camp, supporting our students to achieve success and build memories that will last a lifetime.  For more information, click here to check out my sizzling spotlight on our Year 6 camp.

This fortnight saw our first 2021 Kindy visits as part of their pre-Prep transition program. Children engaged in fun-filled PE activities with Mr Samanes and drama activities with Ms Jaki before eating a special morning tea treat with Mrs Tatti and listening to a story in our beautiful library.  These visits give our 2022 Prep students an opportunity to get to know our staff and the school environment in preparation for their entry to formal schooling next year. A special welcome to all our new Prep families who have had their interview for 2022. We look forward to our Prep 4 Prep program kicking off in week 2, term 4.

This week we finally welcomed Spring, and with it, some warmer weather.  Well done to those students who have been wearing our correct school uniform and clearly labelling personal items.   Correct uniform can be purchased from the school P&C uniform shop and consists of:

  • Jade school shirt or 2021 Senior shirt (for Yr6 students only)
  • Black shorts or skorts
  • Sports shirt
  • School hat

Next term swimming will begin for all students in Prep-Yr6.  Students will be required to wear a swim shirt.  Swim shirts can also be purchased from the P&C uniform shop.

As you know, we value open communication with our families. If you need to speak to your child's teacher, please make an appointment to do so via the front office. Making an appointment will ensure that we give you the time and attention needed. Parent/Teacher/Student interviews will be held again at the end of the term on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th September. For more information about our Parent/Teacher/Student interviews, check out my sizzling spotlight this Thursday on our website.

This week our teachers will engage in a full day collaborative planning opportunity. These are valuable days for teachers to collaborate and plan pedagogies and teaching strategies for term 4. During this period of time we do acknowledge some students find it difficult to adjust to a change of teacher.  In order to support your child, please check in with their class teacher for strategies on managing this change of teacher.

This Friday 3rd of September is dedicated to recognising the hard work of our amazing teacher aides.  This year, our teacher aides get to celebrate with a long weekend, as Friday is a Student Free Day with minimal staff on site for this day.  This week we will celebrate the wonderful work of our teacher aides and say 'thank you' for being a great asset to our school.

Finally, I finish with a farewell to Ms Vanessa Doyle who this week will begin her maternity leave.  We wish her and her husband Digby all the very best as they await the arrival of their newest family member.
