Focus expectation: I Am Safe – I follow rules and directions
Reminder expectation: I Am Respectful – Hands off, feet off

Welcome back to a chilly start!  It's so exciting to return to school after such a long time of disruption and time of uncertainty.  This week we are focusing on the expectation: I follow rules and follow directions as we appreciate that there has been nothing 'normal' about the last two months in all of our lives and student learning.  In classrooms and in the playground we will be reteaching and relearning what is expected at Mareeba State School and what this will look like.  We will have a strong focus on hands off, feet off and staff will be giving constant reminders to students to help them to make better choices.

Pause Update
We finally have our mind jars and will be revisiting the parts of the brain again and their functions.  In the classroom students will make their mind jars and be reminded of the Pause process to help with self-regulation in the classroom and in the playground.

Time Out
Time out at lunchtimes will continue for students in the unfortunate circumstances that Mareeba State School expectations are not being met.  In time out, students discuss their behaviour with staff, and talk about why they have been given time out and how to correct the behaviour and make better choices.  Parents/carers will receive a text message to inform them that their student has been in time out that day.  Please discuss this at home and if you have any further questions, please contact the school on 4092 8100.
