At Mareeba State School we value all students' safety and therefore pride ourselves on teaching our students that physical violence is not acceptable.
Over the next few weeks in classrooms and in the playground, staff will be reiterating the message: 'Hands Off, Feet Off.'
Staff will be constantly focusing on and providing reminders of the behaviours we accept at Mareeba State School, as well as possible consequences when these behaviour expectations are not met. Consequences may look like:
- Time out of the playground at lunchtime
- Classroom detentions
- Contact with homes
While Mareeba State School is promoting 'Hands Off, Feet Off', we also encourage you to talk at home about how important this is. Throughout this period staff will be providing opportunities in class for students to identify strategies to assist them in handling situations that may result in a physical altercation.
