Term 4 has been a ripper of a term for sports at Mareeba State School. Students have taken part in our swimming and water safety program, learning important, potentially life-saving skills that all include swimming, survival, water safety and rescues and how to apply these in a safe manner. Students were very engaged and it was evident that there was lots of fun and enjoyment had while learning these important skills.
Last Friday 6th December we also held our annual Swimming Fun Day for students in year 4, 5 and 6 who participated in our swimming program. Despite it being a sweltering summer day, the day ran smoothly and with many smiles to be had by students taking part in freestyle, breast stroke, backstroke, noodle races and relays. It was great to see so many students of differing swimming ability getting in, having a go and cooling off in the water. Congratulations to Mitchell who came away with the winning trophy for highest points scored. See this fortnight's newsletter for more photos!
Well done also to students who participated in the free Sporting Schools Cricket sessions after school on Thursday afternoons.
