Giving our littlest learners the best start to learning!
Education Queensland's current strategic plan outlines Education equalling Queensland's future and together lifting learning and skilling outcomes for Queensland. By engaging early with families and children we can give them the best start. By providing an accessible, high quality early years sector we can give children the best start to learning and families the confidence to engage in their child's learning journey. At Mareeba SS we shape our partnerships on understanding each other's expectations and building on each other's strengths and knowledge. To do this, we have a strong emphasis on two-way communication in transitioning our prep-prep children to prep. This has seen Mareeba SS recently be state finalists for the Regional Showcase Award for Excellence in Parent and Community Engagement and the Regional Showcase Award for Excellence in Inclusive Practices. Mareeba SS then went on to win the Queensland Showcase Board's Choice Award.
Our 2020 Prep children continue their transition journey by attending weekly visits, held each Thursday morning from 9am until 10am. Information sessions are provided for parents, to find out about all aspects of supporting children in their transition to prep, while our 2020 prep children attend a different prep classroom each week.
Prep 4 Prep will conclude when we host our whole school transition session at 12pm on Wednesday 4th December. Prior to this date, all 2020 prep parents will have received their class allocation and booklist in the post with an invitation to transition day. 2020 prep children are included in the day, with all children invited to attend their new prep class for an hour.
At Mareeba SS we believe in enrolling not just the child but the entire family. Every child that enrols at our school will have an enrolment interview in term 4 so we have the best understanding of your child's needs, ensuring their transition to school is seamless. We will also receive your child's transition statement that their Kindy teacher will provide to the school with your permission.
Enrolment packs are now available from your child's Kindy or from the school office and you can return these forms and book your interview now.
Mareeba State School has strong connections to the Mareeba Community and welcomes regular visitors to the school. Angela Toppin and Shirlee Gallo were recent visitors to the school, and they shared their thoughts about Mareeba State School prep. At Mareeba SS we commit to 'every day in every classroom, every child is learning and achieving!'
