Welcome back to school for yet another action packed term. I am hoping this term we will see some great attendance and finally hit our school target of 95%. This term we will finish with the 95% attendance celebration wet play on the oval for all students who have reached 95% and above. That is a change from previous terms when this activity was for our 100% attenders. The reason for the change is our school target is 95%, so when a child is coming to school 95% or more, they get to celebrate! 100% attenders will receive an attendance post card and a fabulous Facebook photo. While some children do reach 100%, that target is not realistic when you consider sick days, family appointments and medical appointments.
This term we continue with the ARTIE Academy attendance challenge for our Indigenous students who need some support attending school. MSS has been invited to join this program as we are a feeder school to MSHS. We are one of a very few primary schools in the Brisbane-based program, however, we have the most students in the program out of all schools that participate. Ms Bianca Rainbow will join Ms Marcia Koolatah in running this attendance program in conjunction with our daily school attendance.
Attendance is everybody's business, so I ask for your support in sending your children to school when they are fit and well. Our classrooms are busy and vibrant places of learning and growth, and when your child is not at school they are missing out on such valuable learning opportunities. If you need help getting your child to school please contact the office so we can assist you to do this.
At Mareeba State School, we all belong.
