Welcome back to school one and all. What a busy term it was in term 3 with great attendance overall.
We celebrated our 95-100% attenders with a fantastic WET PLAY DAY on the oval. Many thanks go to our local Mareeba Fire Brigade who were the highlight of our gathering with the big water hoses spraying across the oval from the top of the fire truck. It was so much fun and so good to see the kids really enjoying the celebration of their successful attendance. The staff had a great time too, and it is especially rewarding to be able to celebrate these successes with our students.
Here is some of our attendance data for you to check out:
Attendance data for Term 4
78% of students attending 95-100% of the time in Term 4
22% of students attending less than 85% of the time in Term 4
MSS is continuing with our extra programs again this term that encourage daily attendance, those being the ARTIE Attendance Program & Moriarty Football (Soccer) Program.
Both programs operate in our school and assist students with reaching challenges to meet attendance targets.
Our ARTIE Ambassadors at MSS are Marcia Koolatah and Bianca Rainbow. These ladies help in attendance tracking, monitoring and checking in.
Our Moriarty crew come every Monday and Wednesday and run a soccer skills based program that also focuses on attendance, behaviour and breathing (like our PAUSE Program). All of these elements together assist students to manage choices and engage more successfully in school.
Fortunately for MSS, we are able to access both programs as we are linked to MSHS and because of our large number or student enrolments. Technically these programs are for secondary schools only, so MSS is very lucky to be involved and offer our students access to these other programs. The Moriarty Manager for MSS is me, so please contact me if you have a question.
Term 4 will fly by very quickly so I will continue to keep you updated with our attendance and engagement information. Dates of events and celebrations around attendance and engagement will come out during the term so keep an eye out. If you have any questions around attendance or any engagement programs, please don't hesitate to contact the school.
