Online Learning Programs

Do the Christmas school holidays feel like they will never end?  Do you hear a constant cry of ‘I’m bored’?
Are you looking for ways to keep your children learning during the six week break?  Mareeba State School subscribes to a number of online learning programs that your children will have access to at home, during the Christmas holidays. Below are details of these programs and how your child can gain access.
Mathletics switches kids on to maths.  It’s engaging and highly supportive with activities targeted to the Australian mathematics curriculum for both primary and secondary students.  Students require individual usernames and passwords to access this program.  Students already have this information that they are using to access Mathletics at school.  In week 10 we will send home an ID card containing this information for students from Prep – Year 5 to jog their memory when they are using the program at home.
ABC Reading Eggs makes learning to read interesting and engaging for kids, with great online reading games and activities.  And it really works!  Children love the games, songs, golden eggs and other rewards which, along with feeling proud of their reading, really motivate children to keep exploring and learning.  Students also require their individual username and password to access this program.  Once again, students from years prep – 5 will be given an ID card containing their information during week 10 for them to take home.
Sunshine Online offers every child the very best of animated and interactive learning in literacy and maths!  Sunshine Online makes learning to read fun and engaging for all children, from beginners through to independent readers.  This program allows every student to have the same username and password.  To log on to Sunshine Online at home, enter the following information on the home page:      Username: mareeba Password: mareeba
If you have any feedback around these programs we would appreciate hearing your thoughts.  The decision as to what online programs to subscribe to is constantly under review and parent feedback about these
programs would assist our decision making.  Please email your feedback to Valerie Dayes at   Happy holidays!
