Attendance Report

Winners of last week's Cohort Attendance Challenge.

As we head into the end of the term, we need to continue to focus on daily attendance at school.  While our target is 95%, in reality every day at school counts.  If your child is well it is an expectation they are at school.  Our staff manage classroom attendance daily and follow up on kids who are not at school (particularly unexplained absences) because it is important to know that they are safe and okay.  The message we share with our kids about coming to school daily is like having a job to go to.  Currently our whole school attendance is 88.1% which is a little way off our target of 95%.  We ask you to work with us to encourage your child to come to school every day as part of their 'job'.  Our <85% attendance is still too high, at 23% for the school.  The target for the FNQ region is 10% so we have some work to do in this space.

Attendance is part of the learning cycle and if kids are at school they have the opportunity to learn!  What a fabulous thing that is here in the lucky country of Australia where that is not the norm in all countries of the world.  We should be celebrating every day at school as a learning experience and be proud of our attendance record.

If you are having trouble getting your child to school, please see your child's class teacher, our FLO Marcia Koolatah or a Deputy Principal, and they will assist you.
