2018 NAPLAN Results

NAPLAN results were released this week and our school celebrates a number of strong achievements which amongst others include:

  • The percentage of Year 3 students achieving the National Minimum Standard (NMS) for our focus area of Reading has improved by 5% since last year, with 94% of students successfully meeting this benchmark.
  • 95% of students achieved NMS in Numeracy which is comparable to both the State and the Nation.
  • 94.6% of Indigenous students achieved NMS in Reading at Mareeba State School compated to 85.9% across the state.
  • The percentage of students achieving NMS in Year 5 has also improved over last year's results.
  • The percentage of Year 5 Indigenous students achieving NMS in Reading has improved 12% since 2017.
  • Students at Mareeba State School have shown greater improvement (relative gain) from Year 3 to Year 5 in both Reading and Numeracy than students across the State and Nation.

These results are achieved as a consequence of our school's focus on explicit teaching and warm ups in Literacy and Numeracy and consistent adherence to the requirements of the Australian Curriculum.  They also reflect the high quality teaching practices and dedication of our teaching staff.  Well done, everyone!
